No matter how deeply I am involved in other things, with music in the background, this never fails to grab my full attentions as soon as it begins.
Sheryl Crow proves to be one of the few "popular" singers able to hold her own against the "master".

I wouldn’t have believed Sheryl Crow could hit the notes even if her voice was kind of weak. She may have been somewhat restrained merely from the intimidation factor. It would take a lot of gumption to get on a stage and sing with Pavarotti even if you were trained for the venture. The best voice of our times, Imho.
Try this one on for size — a duet with Pavarotti and James Brown —

Sheryl Crow? I would never have guessed it! She has more than I previously thought.
I had not listened to that previously---I was taken by the lyrics which end with:
Not that I want my wife to see this comment :rolleyes2:Quote:
This is a man's world
But it wouldn't be nothing, nothing, not one little thing, without a woman or a girl
He's lost in the wilderness
He's lost in bitterness, he's lost lost
There’s all kinds of genius, as that duet illustrates, I think.
Wow, James Brown with Pavarotti! I would never have thought of both of them on the same stage.
For those of us who cannot manage a 4-string ukulele —

Here’s another duet with two of the finest talents of my time — Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong — performing one of my favorite tunes — Summertime. Excuse me if I posted this before in this thread...too many here to go back and check. Anyway, it bears repeating. Ella was arguably at the very top of female singing talent lists with a glorious natural, untrained voice and perfect pitch. Satchmo was truly one of a kind everyone misses.

It came up on my home playlist today and I thought I would share it.
And for a new face---Alma Deutscher. That link is to a piece that appeared on 60 minutes last night. This young lady is truly gifted and amazing. Here she is performing her first violin concerto in G Minor with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra.
A savant without the idiot part?
Her prodigy has been widely known for some years now. That she plays the piano as well as she plays the violin and composes is astonishing.

2Cellos — Thunderstruck

Are you an AC/DC fan Waco, color me impressed.
Speaking of Thunderstruck. Here is one that is a bit different.

I see the group was waiting on Ben and his accordion to start.
An AC/DC fan? Sorry to disappoint, but not really. My son growing up successfully terrorized me playing them though. I did like the video and appreciate the skill involved. Below is more my speed (slow and evocative) with the 2Cellos performing seriously in front of an orchestra. The cello can be exquisite, yes? It is the closest instrument to the human voice and these two musicians can communicate with their instrument beautifully.

OK, this is not YouTube, but it is video music, so that seems close enough and I started the thread anyway, so...
Michael Cleveland And The Flamethrowers
https://www.pbs.org/video/michael-cl...keeper-yxlytl/
This one is Bluegrass, but the musicality is remarkable principally by the namesake of the band, Michael Cleveland, but the other players are super fine on their own too. I love the way the banjo player looks at Cleveland playing the five-string fiddle with the reverence he is due.
Holy moly! I do love me some fiddle music! Blue Grass, too. The tempo of some Blue Grass amazes me. This video is a great example of that.
Thanks, Joe!
There are no slackers on that stage...About Michael Cleveland...:cash:...Ben
This is Paul McCartney in a different group and mood than you might have heard in the past.
If you look close you will see Eric Clapton on the guitar and my friend John Clayton is playing the bass.
Tommy Emmanuel is brilliant. Here’s another playing in a guitar trio on a guitar favorite, Sultans Of Swing.

I looked for a YouTube version of Jesse Cook playing with Emmanuel on Tommy & Me but could not find it. It is special on Cook’s last album.
Good to see you Joe, don't be such a stranger.

I can dig it!
I have been getting into the Blues a bit lately. I know y'all have the ability to click on u tube so I'll just give a name to search for. Pick any piece of music.
Willie Mae Big Momma Thornton
Be prepared to enjoy.
Changed my mind. Check out this harp work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyZd...&start_radio=1
I could not tell which one was John Lee Hooker in that video, and have never seen him play a harpoon.
I love watching musicians having fun.
Good find IV. Thanks.
What Mike said:clap:
I think John Lee Hooker is wearing a dark jacket---but obviously that is a very young John Lee Hooker. I'd like to know when this was recorded.
This just came on as I continue on taxes. It was a good cause to pause.
Back when we were both much younger, I a John Bircher and Joan a free spirit and rebel I thought her voice and person were both of great beauty---but I could not bring myself to buy any of her records---her politics put me off.
Apparently she has changed her politics, because I think I now have everything she ever recorded. I am no longer a Bircher but she is still lovely :hatoff::cool_one:
This is my favorite from Ms. Baez:

Must be true then......Ben
There always has to be at least one smart ass in the bunch:hatoff:
