Thruster glitches and helium leaks can't stop Boeing's Starliner astronaut test flight — but why are they happening?
When NASA astronauts tried to dock Boeing's first crewed Starliner spacecraft at the International Space Station Thursday (June 6), they had to wait.
Five aft thrusters on the Starliner service module were out. And that was after flight controllers found workarounds for two new helium leaks on the spacecraft on top of one it already had. Also, its cooling system was using more water than expected, and another helium leak would be detected later after Starliner docked with the space station.

I'm afraid Boeing's desire to keep up with space x is going to have very bad results. Too many defects will cause them to react and miss something.

I am saddened to see all the problems Boeing is experiencing, but they are of their own making. They show every sign of having lost their way in the area of quality.
They need to first (and quickly) develop a plan, and then implement that plan. It may well require shutting down production as they do that. That is exactly what Toyota did a few years ago when their growth ran away from their ability to fully indoctrinate their new employees in the Toyota system.
Every worker on the production line at Toyota has the authority to stop the line when they encounter a quality problem. Boeing needs to implement a similar program.

You are right, but it is imperative for the company to react exactly as they say they will. If the worker made a mistake, coach him don't belittle him.

This is more embarrassment---and I hope a wakeup call for Boeing:
Teams have discovered an astonishing five different helium leaks so far,
Maybe the next stop for this ill-fated "space ship" should be the Udvar-Hazy-Center at the Smithsonianeach representing yet another thorn in the spacecraft's already cursed development. The gas is "used in spacecraft thruster systems to allow the thrusters to fire" while navigating through space, according to Boeing.

“We are taking our time and following our standard mission management team process,” said Steve Stich, manager of NASA’s Commercial Crew Program. “We are letting the data drive our decision making relative to managing the small helium system leaks and thruster performance we observed during rendezvous and docking. Additionally, given the duration of the mission, it is appropriate for us to complete an agency-level review, similar to what was done ahead of the NASA’s SpaceX Demo-2 return after two months on orbit, to document the agency’s formal acceptance on proceeding as planned.”
