    I'm not supporting them either, I simply think they are no more than an annoying presence in France at this time.

    The issue that fueled the left's rise in the election is primarily a change in their government pension:

    In 2023, a law was passed in France that raises the retirement age from 62 to 64 with a requirement that the retiree has worked at least 43 years.

    Having traveled across a lot of Europe.. most of Europe, especially Northern Europe, they have a very high standard of living.. but their politics and economic structure are very different than ours..

    Once saw a panel discussion on France 24 on the US healthcare debate.. it was almost comical because none of the Europeans could understand the concept of not having national healthcare.. go figure..

    The simple fact that this change in retirement age has caused such wide spread discontent is an indication of how many French people feel entitled and expect mother France to take care of them in all things. The rub comes in because for years that is exactly what mother did
