    This week in dentistry

It seems Colorada might be in jeopardy of losing two dentists in the Boulder/Ft Collins area

    First in Fort Collins:

A Fort Collins dentist accused of tax evasion has been indicted by a federal grand jury.

The indictment filed Aug. 21 alleges the man concealed more than $3.5 million in income from the Internal Revenue Service since 2017 using an illegal tax shelter he purchased in 2016 for $50,000, according to a news release from the U.S. Department of Justice. Authorities say his actions have cost the IRS more than $1 million in lost taxes.

The defendant, Ryan Ulibarri, has owned and operated Ulibarri Family Dentistry in Fort Collins since 2014, according to the news release. Ulibarri faces six counts of federal tax evasion. If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison for each count.
Then 65 miles up the road in Boulder is this "disturbed" jawsmith:

A Colorado dentist is facing charges after he attempted to entice a mother and her 8-year-old daughter into having unlawful sex, federal prosecutors say.

According to court documents obtained by Fox News Digital, 49-year-old Dr. James Jason Atha is accused of messaging someone he believed to be a mother about sexually grooming her 8-year-old daughter. Unbeknownst to Atha, he was messaging an undercover Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Investigations agent.

In the investigation, which began in October 2023, the agent assumed an online persona in an online message app centered around "taboo" sex, family incest and child pornography, court documents say.

On Oct. 3, 2023, the undercover DHS agent allegedly received a message from Atha with a description of his sexual fantasies.

Jason James Atha, 50, a dentist from Broomfield, Colo., was indicted in the Southern District of Florida (DOJ) for attempted enticement of a minor and transportation of child pornography.
In the initial messages between the agent and Atha, the Colorado dentist allegedly admitted that he would "love to find mother daughter to play with."
I cannot imagine the embarrassment such stories might cause when released to one's community----jail could be a blessing

    From one of Honda's links:

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — A former dentist has been sentenced to prison for the rest of his life after being convicted of various sex charges, including forcing his employees into sex and inappropriately touching patients.

According to court documents, Dr. Joseph Clarence Cox was found guilty on 10 counts of first-degree rape, sodomy and sexual abuse in January. In March, a judge sentenced Cox to 180 years in prison, with each sentence on his convictions to run consecutively.
Now there my friends is a judge worth keeping

Yeah, rapists typically are fine amongst other inmates - unless a child was involved (as with the case at hand). He will quickly find he occupies the bottom rung of secure custody. Even if a friend or two approaches him, he'd be foolish to trust them. For, there're often doing the bidding of other inmates, luring him into a set up. They're in no hurry and often take their time - something all of them have plenty of while behind bars.
