Looking at his many accomplishments, it's apparent he was one of those guys who excels at just about everything. Give him a job to do (e.g., military) and he's off and running.
His performance in Field Of Dreams, 1989, impressed me. He brought realness (if there is such a concept) to the film. I look forward to meeting him someday.
