not that much different here. everything gets verified first, id and signature, then a ballot is mailed to you. You fill it out seal it in an envelope, sign the envelope and drop it in secure lock box (ours is at the police station). They then match your signature on the envelope with the one on file. If the signatures match your vote gets counted and you get notified. if they don't match they notify you of that and you have to vote in person.
Hard part about signature is they match that to your drivers license which in AZ after the first one it good until your 65. Imagine the differences over the years. And for some of the kids that never learned cursive.
