Our parish has been honoring all active military and veterans on the Sunday of Veterans Day. We are called up by name to come forward and then there is a prayer offered and a token given to each. The first year this was done the token was a very nice medal. I admit to wishing they didn't do this---until they did and then I was touched I also have to note that it takes longer for some of us to make the trek up to the front
This year I had to miss this---but today I got a note from Lillian Taylor----who I haven't yet met----but I will I think Lillian might be in pre-school
Lillian is a student at our school----the oldest catholic school in PA, founded in 1743:
Not only is it the oldest in PA, it is the oldest in the original 13 colonies.
This is what I received in the mail from Lillian and I know she would want me to share it with all of you as well:
I will write Lillian a thank you note from all of us----and include a check for the school
Added in edit:
Our original church is still in use as part of our current church with it's latest addition of 1847. A few weeks ago we had the rededication of our restored/rebuilt pipe organ, originally installed in 1797, it was moved to its current position in 1847.
