I had my one month follow up with the surgeon today and my knee passed inspection with flying colors. I took it for it's longest walk yet just to get to his offices.
I am scheduled for mid February for the next one. I also found out more about the actual knee replacement. My patella is still there, but resurfaced on the back side. The upper and lower parts are not cemented in---which they used to do. They both have ribs machined into them and the bone is machined (by robot) with such accuracy they force the replacement pieces into those grooves and the bone grows around them.
Still I am mildly amazed that at the age of 80 they can stick new parts in me and they work
