I have lived MOST of my life W. B. G. (well before Googgle)
The SOB.....he should be flogged...how can he expect them to get involved, to get in the fight, and report what goes on in their communities. The nerve of some people....Republican senator Lindsey Graham told the congressional panel he supported "Muslim rights" - but called on Muslims to do more "to protect the United States from attack".
"Get in this fight," he said. "You're going to have to help your country, probably uniquely compared to anyone else - understand what's going on and fight back. The front lines of this war are in our own back door and our own neighbourhoods."

Yeah, we don't have a problem with the radicalisation of American Muslims....what's he talking about.... (maybe Ft Hood, the Military recruiting offices, the bombing plots against Bush's home in Texas, or any of the other American Muslims that have been radicalised and arrested for plotting nefarious acts).....hmmmmEarlier this month, Republican congressman Peter King held a hearing on "radicalisation in the US Muslim community", which Amnesty International, alongside a coalition of 50 other organisations, described as akin to senator Joe McCarthy's campaign against those suspected of having communist sympathies in the 1950s.

Surely someone else can fight the good fight here and set the record straight....??
Gary
Set the record straight? You mean we haven't had attacks and attempted attacks by Radicalised American Muslims right here at home going all the way back to Jose Padilla??? That it is not becoming a legitimate problem??? Gee....huh.....who'da thunk all them news reports were lies. Better ban them up there...they must be lying to us. In fact, in the latest lie, 2 Muslims drove through the security gate in different vehicles at Camp Pendleton today. I guess they were both lost, and weren't testing out the gate security...

Some security threat!
After his car was searched again, Naeem was issued a warning letter and escorted to the motorway.

How do you measure, and justify, the rare and relatively insignificant effect of the handfull of terrorists' activities in the US, against the thousands of acts of discrimination and even violence against so many of your own muslim citizens who have done nothing to deserve such treatment?
Is 'second class citizen' the new normal for you?

Or here: -Muslims in the United States face ongoing discrimination and violence in actions that threaten basic freedoms in the nation, a US Senate hearing was told Tuesday.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islam_in_the_United_States
Or: -After the September 11, 2001 attacks, America saw an increase in the number of hate crimes committed against people who were perceived to be Muslim, particularly those of Middle Eastern and South Asian descent. A publication in Journal of Applied Social Psychology found evidence that the number of anti-Muslim attacks in America in 2001 increased from 354 to 1,501 following 9/11
Or: -In a 2007 survey, 53% of American Muslims reported that it was more difficult to be a Muslim after the 9/11 attacks. Asked to name the most important problem facing them, the options named by more than ten percent of American Muslims were discrimination (19%), being viewed as a terrorist (15%), public's ignorance about Islam (13%), and stereotyping (12%). 54% believe that the U.S. government's anti-terrorism activities single out Muslims. 76% of surveyed Muslim Americans stated that they are very or somewhat concerned about the rise of Islamic extremism around the world, while 61% express a similar concern about the possibility of Islamic extremism in the United States.
Is that how a 'civilized' society treats its innocent citizens? On a small number of occasions Muslim women who wore distinctive hijab were harassed, causing some Muslim women to stay at home, while others temporarily abandoned the practice. In November 2009 Amal Abusumayah, a mother of four young girls, had her hijab pulled following derogatory comments while grocery shopping.[121] In 2006, one California woman was shot dead as she walked her child to school; she was wearing a headscarf and relatives and Muslim leaders believe that the killing was religiously motivated
Would you be OK if you or your family received similar treatent?
Is the record set straight enough for you yet?
If not you can find pages upon pages of similar examples of discrimination, prejudice, or violence committed against your own citizens....
You still OK with that.....??
Or has your hatred gotten in the way of whatever standards of justice and human rights, as guaranteed by your Constitution, that you may have had previously......???
Gary
Inasmuch as I belong to a religion that has been discriminated against by other americans, and the historically, by the US government, I think I am uniquely qualified, at least on this forum, to respond.
It is fascinating to me that the moslems are having problems being discriminated against. Sure, someone driving into the gates of camp Pendleton is not a huge security threat, but at times of war, lethal means would be justified to arrest just such a threat. That they were coincidentally moslem, just puts an additional onus on the moslem community to denounce such actions, just as other illegal, and nefarious actions should be denounced by the community at large when they are underaken by a single member of that community. The refusal of CAIR, and other American based moslem organizations to denounce any type of terrorist activities is one of the things that makes it appear that all moslems are supportive of those that commit terrorist activities, and thus paints them as terrorists, as well. Do I support those that take the law in their own hands, and discriminate against the moslem community, no, and amazingly, when caught, they are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. You cannot say the same for the moslem community, or the arab nations.
If you don't make someone elses life better, what good is yours?
Weighty decisions are easy to make, when you aren't burdened by all the necessary information
The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings. The inherent virtue of communism is the sharing of misery. -Winston Churchill
If you think the United States is bad, think of another country that wants to put troops on the border to keep illegal aliens out, instead of walling in their citizenry
And from which News network did you hear that CAIR does not denounce any type of Terrorist activity?
How can you make that claim, when this is right in CAIR's statement of Core Principles: -See here: - http://www.cair.com/AboutUs/VisionMi...rinciples.aspxCAIR condemns all acts of violence against civilians by any individual, group or state.
It is obvious that many believe such inaccuracies....
These have been made-up to justify the prejudice, discrimination, hatred, and far too often violence, against your own citizens.
It seems certain news media falsify reality and fan such flames of hatred, and rely on people not actually checking the facts to see if the truth is being distorted. They rather take as gospel the distortions of reality that somehow passes for news.
The fact that you, a previous victim of religious intolerance and discrimination, never bothered to actually look up whether the false claims you targeted CAIR with had any basis of truth, only underscores how receptive to such fabrications some people can be.
And also how certain news networks will play to that gullibility....
Gary
Hey Gary, there is racism, prejudice and stupid minded people in every country on this planet. Yes there were some of our less bright citizens who did dumb things to totally innocent people after 9/11 and thats is a shame and an embarrassment, but you seem to take perverse pleasure in pointing out Americas faults. Well we are no different than any other people and we have our fair share of idiots, but all in all we are a very caring and sharing people, when you take into account all of the things we offer to the world given to them to help them in their everyday life and especially in times of need. You seem to think that we are all bloodthirsty tyrants who are out to take over the world and at the same time think that the radical muslims are just fine and dandy and would make good neighbors.
