Speaking again of Alison Krauss, I posted about her song, Jacob's Dream, years ago when it was released. It remains my favorite of hers today, so I think I'll repost for those who missed it the first time. The first time I heard this song, I actually wept. Incidentally, the bally-hoo has it that the song is based on a true incident.
Ali has not been around for awhile with the rumor she has had voice problems. She showed up this week on The Voice singing a duet with a country western contestant. It seemed to me she had lost some range, but I hope I misjudged.

For those who do not watch The Voice, the winner is a terrific new talent too. Her name is Alisan Porter, strangely enough. Here is her audition attempt —

Just ran across this for the first time. I thought it pretty neat and wanted to share it.

Here are two versions of the same song performed by two young ladies, both barracks favorites where I was stationed in the sixties...I still have both versions on reel-ro-reel tape......Ben
The future is forged on the anvil of history...The interpreter of history wields the hammer... - Unknown author...
Another of my favorites was always Gene Pitney......Ben

Gene Pitney...now there's a flash from the past for sure. I liked him too, but that video was the absolute worst job of lip sincing I have ever seen, and I don't think it was merely out of sequence. Did you see the stagehand run out of camera at the start. Maybe Gene was distracted.
Here's one from the same era which I always liked —

No one could yodel like Frank Ifield.

I noticed the lip-syncing snafu, it was typical of network TV in that era...I used it because the sound was better than some of the others...
Frank Ifield was one whose songs I always stopped what I was doing to listen to...He also toured with Roy Orbison and Cliff Richard...Here's another one of his I liked...
Also from that time period, I think of all the versions of "Statue of a Fool" I've heard, my favorite is still the original artist, Jack Greene...His voice seems to have been made for it...

This next song is the one Kris Kristofferson said allowed him to quit working for a living and just write songs...This version includes a story I had not heard...
This one is from his hippie period, and one of my personal favorites from his album, "Songs of Kristifferson"...
