    I agree.

...and while here I'll drop this one off. I don't believe I have ever heard an oboe solo. Shame on me!

    ...and another.

The oboe is one of my favorite instruments. It’s sound is a little bit eerie.
I enjoyed the Hallejuhah video even if the guy with the camera boom fell in love a bit too much with his toy. My wife was sleeping in her chair next to me when I played it and awakened saying how soothing the piece was. She thanks you.

One of the most haunting and intriguing to me is the flute. One of the best (IMHO) is Sir James Galway. Here he is with his wife Lady Jeanne Galway.

Another haunting sound that I hear too little of is the the clarinet.

Please tell your wife I am glad that she enjoyed that piece

Not to be redundant---but there is no better example of an "ageless" "classic" than this.

42 pages, half by Texans, and only a passing mention of Jerry Jeff kind of surprises me. I haven't had a chance to open all the links yet though. Add that to my list of things to do this summer.

I haven't been online much in the past 10 years so I wanted to thank you guys for a thread that restores my faith in the internet.

And like all good threads here, it wouldn't be complete without me ruining it. So how about a little Elvis covering AC-DC. Heck this could be the theme song for the bilge. If you could make it through that crap from Disturbed then this should be no problem.

I'm glad you are enjoying the journey

This came up on my player this morning. One of my all time favorite pieces of music performed beautifully by Roy and Rosemary.

    ...and as an added bonus

I would have sworn I was listening to Elvis. I wish there would have been a video, as I feel sure the visual was there too. The Elvis look is much easier than the Elvis sound. The guitar break was fine as well. I have no idea about the AC/DC aspect as my son’s infatuation with their “music” got it barred from the house. Maybe I am mellowing as even worse forms of music superseded speed metal.

Here's a rock guitarist over the tips of his ski's. La Villa de Strangiato or such. 3-man bands are pretty cool.

Springsteen was not really that young in 1987, when this concert was performed. In fact, he was 38 at the time and had earned the moniker, “The Boss” long before then. Great DVD btw without Elvis being mixed in although his old backup band, the TCB band, was working the concert here.

Orbison came out of seclusion and retirement to make the video with his admirers 14 months before he died. I say seclusion because he never gave interviews and was as mysterious as the shades he wore. The guitar “statement & answer battle” between “The Boss” and Orbison’s great longtime guitarist, James Burton, on “Pretty Woman” was a classic from two of the best. The concert was produced by T-bone Burnette who has come on lately to produce music for some really fine movie productions. Everybody on the stage that night and many in the audience were renowned in the trade. This was a project of respect and love for Orbison by his peers.

Get the whole concert on DVD, you will like it, guaranteed.
