    Here is your answer:
The guy is playing a type of Synthesizer called an Electronic Melodica. And, an additional fun fact, the keyboard player is David Sancious. He used to play with Santana, and Sting (among many, many others); but I know him from his jazz playing with Stanley Clarke. He's quite the keyboard player!!!
    So---there you go

Pass my thanks on to your source, Dave.

Below is a new artist to me with several videos on YouTube, Andrea Motis. Sings like a bird and plays both stunning trumpet and soprano sax. She is from Spain, so forgive her when she gets a few words wrong and enjoy. The band is terrific too.

Thank you---I had not heard her before. I noticed that Scott Hamilton was on that video. He often plays with Jeff Hamilton (no relation) and John Clayton. Another, of that rather fluid group, is Diana Krall.

Whenever I listen to a good cabaret singer, my thoughts always go to Eva Cassidy---a wonderful talent that left us far to early.

...and I will pass your thoughts along, I am having dinner with her tonight

I read a little bit on the Electronic Melodica and apparently there are 30 or so makers of the instruments. None mention the kind of set-up David Sancious was playing on the video. The ones in the article I accessed show their own keyboard, not like the one integrated into Sancious main keyboard. Perhaps he adapted his own version. I can see he is manipulating some device with his left hand while playing the keys with his right. The article says the instrument has its own metal reeds and sounds like a harmonica, yet the video above sounded very much like a sax rather than a harmonica. I remain intrigued...it was quite musical.

From the discussion at dinner I got a little more information. My friend indicated that what we saw on the video has been highly customized by David Sancious.

Plus, I have another find This young lady is 10 years old, she came here from the Ukraine at age 6---which is also when she began to play the violin. She is playing, on most of these videos, in Santa Monica. I forget the name of the street, but it is a haven for street musicians. In the late 90's and early 2000s I was working on the design of a new chair with a great designer (Don Chadwick) based in Santa Monica. I would always try to schedule my visit early in the week--and then I would go out on Saturday so that I could hear the "show" on Sunday.

YouTube keeps throwing great stuff my way. I put up Andrea Motis back in #647 who was developed by a Spanish musician, Joan Chamorro, out of a school for young jazz musicians, I take it. Here he brings us another equally talented young singer and trumpet player, Alba Armengou, to front a band he put together. She had to come from the same pool, I’m betting. What a wonderful project. I think Chamorro is the fellow on the contrabass and Scott Hamilton on baritone sax. Btw, I have a very soft spot for bossa nova...have I mentioned that?

Oh, yeah, and here is Andrea Motis again in front of a full orchestra along with the Chamorro band singing some Duke —

One more at the risk of overdoing my new love, and this one is the tightest tune I found of the group. Every song should be sung in Portuguese, I’m thinking —

I'll use the words of one of the comments:

I do not understand the words, but it does not matter. They are all a joy to listen to.

What else would cause people sitting in a cold dark rain have broad smiles of joy on their faces

I may be a sap, but Andrea & Celine with “The Prayer” is always stunningly beautiful, but I have to say that I have never heard “Volare” done so well. The ending of “The Prayer” is how a song should end. Foster is a great talent in his own right. I would sit in the rain any day for that concert.

There is no question that Andrea can pull Celine up to a level she seems never to match on her own.
Here is Wynton Marsalis and Eric Clapton playing---and they are playing

I asked someone who plays with Wynton Marsalis what it was like, since he seems to be free forming as he goes---he said it was like falling down an elevator shaft---the only thing you knew for sure was that at some point it would end!

A documentary on Linda Ronstadt is coming! Until then, there is a trailer below.

An icon for not only female rock musicians but also the rock genre as a whole, Linda Ronstadt is a pioneering artist in the music industry, and the forthcoming documentary Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice is showcasing just how memorable she is.

Ronstadt came to fame in the ’60s folk-rock scene as the leader singer of the Stone Poneys, and from there she branched out to her own solo work and became the highest-paid female artist in rock music, winning 10 Grammy Awards out of her 26 nominations. Never compromising herself for the sake of others, Ronstadt pushed and broke limits within musical genres, altering the perception of female singers in a male-dominated industry, as well as the entire music industry of the ’70s.

This just might be the finest rendition of this piece that I have ever heard.

Enjoy Amazing Grace performed by Ayako Ishikawa.

I have to add another just found.

    Another unequaled piece.

If anyone knows were this recording was made, please tell me

I may have solved the mystery of where this was recorded: The Ancient theatre of Taormina is an ancient Greek theatre in Taormina, Sicily, built in the third century BC.

    I love venues like that
