Many do not keep up with America’s Got Talent, neither do I, but I became aware of a Musical Savant, who is both profoundly autistic and blind, but is imbued with genius musical talent and is currently on the show. His name is Kodi Lee. For those few who have not heard him perform yet —

WOW! You've been holding back on us, Joe.
While watching the first video it struck me that he is not the disabled person, that person would be me. I can't begin to do the things he does. I wish him nothing but the best.

Here is a sentimental favorite.
Forty or so years ago, my wife and I were Christian Clowns and performed at churches and religious functions, both for adults and children. This was our entry song.
We also met Judy Collins. Ms Collins, like the rest of us had her demons which she battled repeatedly. Her respite of choice was a famous, and exclusive center across the road from a Catholic retreat center which we were deeply involved in. The director (priest) of the retreat center became Ms Collins' spiritual advisor and we would see her there. She gravitated to him (he was a very charismatic person) and she spent a lot of time at the retreat center. We never told her of the connection to our clown performances.
One of the clearest memories of that, is how exhausted we would be after a performance. It is hard to imagine the energy it takes to exaggerate ones movements--every step becomes it's own component and is magnified by your rather unnatural movements.
I have the highest esteem for ballet dancers---they are truly gifted athletes

Judy Collins is a special singer. There is something unnatural the way she can be just ever so slightly out of key and make it so enjoyable. I attended one of her live shows and never got tired of it.

A page or two back, I posted about the upcoming Linda Ronstadt documentary. At that time, I thought it was a made for TV film, but it turns out it is going to be played at a theater near you. I have to find that theater soon because the release date was 3 days ago.
Here is another teaser Ronstadt lovers might like
And a Trailer.

You have to watch this one--in it's entirety. This is more than three tenors---this is three amigos having fun! The conductor who is also part of the "bunch" is Zubin Mehta.
I hope the same fate does not befall the others that has come down on Domingo.

While it is correct that most prominent classical guitarists are male, there are more than a few really masterful ladies playing as well. Check out #609 above. Sharon Isbin is one of my favorites...and then let me remind you that Charo - yes, that Charo - has excellent flamenco guitar skills. Liona Boyd is a fantastic classical guitarist.

I think you are correct, this is at least partially due to my own ignorance of many fine guitarist. With diligence, I hope to correct that.
Here is my My offering of the day.

If anyone is interested in the history of country music, what influenced it and what it has influenced, you will enjoy the PBS 16 hour series produced by documentary great Ken Burns. There is a lot of very interesting history here, some of it is very surprising to me. You can stream it now as I have been doing. Unfortunately, I only have one episode left to view.
PBS PAGEExplore the history of a uniquely American art form: country music. From its deep and tangled roots in ballads, blues and hymns performed in small settings, to its worldwide popularity, learn how country music evolved over the course of the 20th century, as it eventually emerged to become America’s music. Country Music features never-before-seen footage and photographs, plus interviews with more than 80 country music artists. The eight-part 16-hour series is directed and produced by Ken Burns.
