This one came up on my page while watching Tx's last contribution. It has been one of my favorites for years because I love old dogs and children even if I've never had watermellon wine. It's the thought that counts. The Story Teller - Tom T. Hall —

Not knowing a great deal about guitars, what he's playing in the two videos I posted above appear to be six string versions to me...The one below is poor quality video, but the guitar seems to have 12 adjustment thingies on it as opposed to the others...

By contrast, here's another performer not usually noticed for her musical abilities doing her version of the same tune......Ben

4-21-16,, Just received word that Prince has died at 57..

When I started following this thread, recently, one of my "to share items" was a Prince so;o that I had been introduced to.. But.. I went off on tangents..

Well, as a "Classic Rock" fan I am not very familier with Prince.. Not even close to being a Prince fan..

Here is a 2004 performance from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.. George Harrison's "While my guitar gently weeps".. Prince did a guitar solo that makes a "Classic Rock" fan stop and listen. then replay

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7INsVaR-S-w

    Enjoy..

    RIP Prince..

A male diva (should that be "divo?") and virtuoso rock guitar talent whatever his name is now wherever he is.

And Charo.. I had forgotten what a great classical guitar player she is.. Cant deal with the "Coochie Coochie" nonsense..

Joe.. RE: Divo.. must agree.. I believe for whatever brilliance we have, there is a short coming.. For his musical brilliance he was wanting in "just regular person" skills..

His strange persona was enough to capture the interests of Kim Basinger for a time. I always found that combination truly strange indeed.

Not really surprising to me...She and her then-husband, Alec Baldwin, had promised to leave the country for good if George Bush was elected president...So for me, her alliance with Prince went right along with her odd way of thinking......Ben

I listen to all kinds of music except opera and rap (ok, maybe a few others ).

This probably won't excite the highbrows here, but one of my favorite songs is Otis Redding's Try a Little Tenderness. Below are links to his version and the version by Three Dog Night. Both work wonders for my ears. Flame away......

Otis Redding's version first. This was his last performance the day before he died in a plane crash. His studio version is better, but this was the last.

What's not to like about Otis R.. I liked most of the music that came out of Stax Records.

Rock is not my thing but this was embedded in an article this morning in the NYT. The last three minutes or so is Prince with some amazing electric guitar playing---very impressive.

Hard to believe he was 67 years old in that video

Redding was 26. He died in 1967.

Somehow I misread that---I guess that is why he didn't look 67

Here is another one that was brought to mind by an ad that is currently running on TV.
