I did too, along with hundreds of others...Unfortunately they disappeared about the same time as my evil ex-wife...They probably went for two for a dollar in some garage sale......Ben

I had a lot of my treasured old phonograph records thrown away after a past house was flooded. I still regret that from time to time. Several of those old recordings I grew up loving have never been reissued on CD. Some that did make the recovery from the flood and still in my possession also are unique in the sense that they have not been reissued either. A few months ago I found an easy converter at Costco for a cheap price of the phono tracks to digital form in my computer. The process is cumbersome but effective. Interestingly, the digital transcription process copies the analog phono with a bit rate twice the standard WAV encode. I even saw a request for one of the tracks I converted in a discussion of one of my favorite artists (Laurindo Almeida) when another fan mentioned he knew that Almeida had transcribed Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata (first movement) for guitar, but could not find it now. If I ever learn how to submit pieces to YouTube, I would post his request. The "ticks and pops" still bother me though.

Joe, if your computer has any version of Windows, MovieMaker is simple to operate and easy to upload...In YouTube, put "Windows Movie Maker" in the search window and you'll find plenty of tutorials..."WacoJoe Classic Audio Productions" has a nice ring to it......Ben

    Sadly, neither do I.

My son, the computer genius, showed me how to edit audio files on Apple's Garage Band program, but the process is like eating Chinese food to me - I forget everything I did an hour later.

Been combing YouTube music vids again. Found a new artist to me whom the whole world beat me to — Lara Fabian — the Belgian/Italian/Canadian beauty who sings fluently in multiple languages.

Here's one to listen to with good audio quality -

And, here is another with poor video, but her rendition of "Caruso" is chilling -

Another of my most favorites from the past, Nana Mouskouri, singing Autumn Leaves with the rarely included prelude. This song should never be sung without it, but most have never heard it sung as intended. She always sang the entire song whether in French or English judging from the versions I have heard. My early vinyl copy of her Autumn Leaves from the 60's is my favorite, but I cannot find a digital version on line although I have made one for my files.

I don't know if it is still true, but at one time Mouskouri was the top selling female singer of all time.

On edit: the original post has been deleted, so I am posting her original recording version I have had since the sixties when she was in top voice. Love this version. It has to be here!

Oh, you know how to gig a fellow, don't you?

For decades I never thought there would be a song to eclipse Tommy James And The Shondells': My Baby Does The Hanky Panky on my personal list of most hated songs, but W. Houston's: I Will Always Love You did the trick. I am very disappointed to see Lara Fabian take Houston's approach to what can be a very nice song when done with a modicum of restraint.

I much prefer the version of the song's creator. Here's Dolly's version —

Here is one of my favorite bands. The drummer, Rick Allen is awesome. He fixed up a drum set so he could play after a bad car accident took his arm. He has a foundation to teach returning vets with missing limbs ect. how to play music. The guest singer is pretty easy on the eyes too!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxMzhhYPD8A
Look on the bright side of things...........

We will not have to travel half way around
the world anymore to fight Socialism and Communism.

We can do it right here at home from our front porches
and in the streets of our own nation.

Fight for Liberty will not be a slogan of a noble idea
but a reality of daily life.

Socialism and total Government control are not knocking
at the door anymore, they have walked in, invited by
the huddled masses who are determined to "vote"
    themselves the things they want.
