    300 AAC Blackout

Last weekend I finally bit the bullet and bought a 300 AAC Blackout upper receiver, and a bolt and carrier to go with it (about $375 total). I slapped it on a HS lower and plan to test drive it this weekend. I've got about $500 in it so it's a cheap build, and all-Texas made except for some Magpul accessories.

Anyone else shoot this round? The ballistics look impressive.

Well the report is good. I shot a box of subsonic and a box of supersonic ammo with no problems. I was using a cheap optic so my 100 yard shots were kills, but not as a tight as I would like when shooting without a rest. Double taps in close quarters (25 yards) were smooth and consistent. The two types of ammo served up significantly different recoil (the subsonics seemed 'delayed') but both were about the same as what you would experience with a 5.56mm round. Considering the 220 grain, .30 cal round I was putting down range I am impressed.
