Last week I took a workshop with him in Tennessee and learned some advanced cement sculpting methods

That is so cool. We have a table and benches in the art form that my wife insisted upon buying. It has made several moves at considerable effort, but worth it. If you acquire the skills, they can be turned into a cash cow with artistic ability your examples show you have.

I would be curious who the artist was that made your set. There are several "legendary" faux bois artists in Tx. Tucker being one of them, Carlos Cortez is another.... I am so full of ideas but really need the start designing so I can get the armatures underway over the winter

Cool stuff! I had no idea you could do things like that with cement. It makes sense now that I've seen it, but I bet it takes a lot of skill to make it happen. Thanks for sharing with us.

Very cool!! I had been doing a lot of concrete counter tops up until they got to heavy for me. It's amazing what people will pay for stuff like that, and amazing what all can be done with it.

Ours is not artistically elaborate as those from the artists you mention, or yours, which I think show real promise. Ours was made by an outdoor furniture company in Hempstead, Tx. and was relatively expensive ($3-4000), but nothing like those from Cortez, who is a master and command premium prices. My wife & I visited Little & Lewis, artists of some renown on Bainbridge Island in Washington, who create their art in cement too. We had some minor pieces shipped back and enjoy them. At one time, We had acres of landscape to fill and pieces such as these were welcome, but as we have sized down, it is becoming difficult to place or dispose of them properly.

I had a distant uncle in Chicago who used to custom fit cement overshoes for an Italian family...I think he's working for the Clinton campaign now......Ben

OOOH Joe, I would give anything to see Little and Lewis' display gardens... sheez. They have always been an inspiration for me. I have worked hard to get good results from leaf casting and now teach my method... even started selling my class handouts online and made a fair bit of $$$$ just for those.
