Ben, you know you can decline their requests don't you? I have a very limited number of friends and keep it that way. If anybody here sent me a friend request I would allow it because we have known each other for years. A random person who I have no knowledge of and was 30 years my junior, would be thrown into the chitcan and denied immediately. If they persist they get blocked.

I know...It just irks me to get those emails saying someone wants to be my "friend"...I value friendship in a different way, and my friends all know that...I know it's silly......Ben

In some ways Facebook "friends" are like a forum, "friends" from a forum......

Ben, you can turn off the friend requests emails and it's easy to ignore the notifications bubble on Facebook.

That said, I only have family members on my Facebook and not all my family members.

On another note, the last Xfiles episode was really funny dealing with the increase of AI personal assistants and what could happen as they take over more and more things in our lives. Poor Dana was in a lot of trouble for awhile. I hope her insurance covers the damage to her house. Next time maybe Fox do the right thing and will tip.

I opened an account under a pseudonym because numerous sites use Facebook as a source to sign in, and I wanted to use that. I signed up with Facebook using another phony email account I had signed up on. I would never voluntarily offer real personal information and name to outfits which notoriously trade it and use it against you or is a source for others to do so. Call it paranoia if you want to.

The crazy thing is that immediately upon signing up with fake info, I was inundated with requests from a gob of people wanting to be my “friends,” as Ben found, but quite a few of them were my real friends and acquaintances. So, how the Sam Hill did Facebook make the connection? What kind of algorithm do they use to track their users? I’m sure some of you computer savvy guys can clue me in how my computer I.D.# gave me away or something, but I think the power these insidious bastiches have is ominous, and this is just one example of it.

Can you sign up on social accounts with a VPN account, which I have no inclination to learn about? I would like to use them in the most nefarious way I can and beat them like a red headed stepchild, but need some help. These rats are obviously far ahead of my feeble knowledge.

My son-in-law had a sellers account with Amazon and was underselling everyone on everything. He bought a lot of stock from store closings and bankruptcies. Other sellers complained he was "dumping" and Amazon cancelled his sellers account. They also cancelled my sellers account even though we were not connected and when asked said he had checked his account one time from my IP address.

I think Ben checks IP addresses as well because he knew it was me instantly upon my registering even though I used a new email address.

I saw that, Don, but shutting off notifications would also stop emails notifying me of messages from people I actually know, and notifications of new posts on the group I signed up to view...It's easier to just activate occasionally, then deactivate...

Lots of bot hits on this thread makes me wonder how they choose what to focus upon and what to ignore? Do their little mindless mechanisms search the web for key words such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram and hit them by rote?

I really like Facebook because I have reconnected with old friends from Colorado that I worked with and dated. Even have gotten together a few times. And I have pissed off my little sister so much over Trump that she won't even talk to me, damn I haven't been able to do that for years.
