    Real Question Here

If the Dems were elected and they were able to enact into law that it is illegal to own or possess an AR type rifle and you were required to have it bought back by the government would you turn it in voluntarily. I will go first. Yes I would because I could lose my professional license for failure to comply with the law. Sad to even think about this but it is possible we may face this at some point in the future.

I would define them as high capacity .556/.223 semi automatic rifles that are not traditionally used for hunting. AR-15, AK-47 and similar. I have a bunch of both.

I think you missed my question. I'll try again, what AR type rifles?

Apparently I have not made clear with my description I have always just called them AR's which is apparently not an adequate description. AR to me means assault rifle. I must not understand your point. Help me.

My point is if anyone asks if I have any AR type rifles, my response will be what AR type rifles?

I get it. I am sure if they pass a law they will have whatever they are after much more accurately described than I did. I mean Biden said it today and he very well could be the next President.

I don't know how things are in Alabama, but I do know about Texas. Should they come for our guns, there will be a revolution. Count on it!

If I did own such a weapon,I would never answer that question on the internet. And I doubt our local sheriff would knock on my door to ask for it.

    Edited for clarity

I agree. I don't know why anyone would want such a rifle.

Hmmm.... I'm assuming I might be asked to turn in my M16s. I'm hopeful they'll have some waivers for retired cops/military that I could use. 'Course, that assumes this will stick. I'm uncertain if it will.

    Amendment II
A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

Not being an English major, nor a writer, I have always felt that the 2nd Amendment was poorly written.

I have understood that a comma was used to separate a clause from a sentence while still maintaining the meaning of the whole. As evidenced by my statement, you could remove the “ nor a writer “ and still keep the sentence meaningful . However, with the 2nd, that is not true.

They should have written it as two separate sentences or removed the comma after militia and arms. A more definitive statement would have silenced all of the brouhaha we hear at this time.

All that being said, I will not willingly give up any mythical weapons I may, or may not, have.

I'm not sure why we are talking about confiscation----there are a lot of things we can do that could help and we aren't doing---there are, I believe, two bills in the house that have passed and should be voted on by the Senate----but little cesar won't allow them to come to the floor.

I do have a realistic concern for the slippery slope---but I am not paralyzed by it.

For clarity, I do not own or possess any of this type weapon, nor am I held hostage by the NRA---of which I am a Life Member.
