Philadelphia, Pa. Druggie Shoots Half Dozen Police

...and, as I write this hours later and after the other PO’s and their arrested perps get out of the building, they are still waffling along “waiting him out.” You’d think the least they would do now is lob a few teargas canister in the room. Contrast the non action today with the MOVE incident in 1985. I guess they don’t have a robot like the Dallas cops had when a maniac shot a bunch of theirs or maybe they think this mook’s life is somehow worth saving, costs be damned.

Coincidentally, just before the gunfire broke out the Pennsylvania governor announced a cluster of new state executive gun rules he is going to unveil later this week “to stem gun violence.” Can’t wait to see those —

Oh, btw, the local denizens are standing around jeering at the - you guessed it - police. The perp is reportedly live-streaming his bit of fun.

Now that much of that has been exposed as BS in the light of day---and no one died, there was no community "outrage"--in fact there was praise for the police restraint---you might find that post a bit embarrassing.

As for the Gov.----why not get it directly from his office.

Added in edit---the "Half Dozen Police" that were shot---were all out of the hospital before the creep came out of the house Just for clarification----I (and obviously the police) do not take shooting at police lightly---and if the creep knew how to shoot the story could have been tragic.

If you want to call it “praise for the police restraint,” then your interpretation is a bit strange —

I now find reports of the crowd harassment---it was also clearly a small minority. The woman I spoke of in the past post was shown on CBS in Philadelphia--and she happened to be a black Muslim women. I don't have time to search for that video but I suspect it is still on the local CBS web site.

It came on as I was typing---go to the window in the lower right hand corner and they run through the clips.

Tear gas has the nasty side affect of starting fires when it is lobbed inside a building. Perhaps the police recalled what happened in 1985 when the mental giants in charge decided to drop a bomb on top of a fortified building. When the threat is contained, there is really no need to rush to the end.

From the reports today, the police finally did lob teargas into the building, which had the effect of forcing the scumbag out where he was arrested. My question was why did it take 8 hours and even after all the PO’s were out of the building? The guy has a long history of arrests and felony convictions for gun crimes, and apparently came out with his gun in hand.

Mike, I mentioned the MOVE confrontation of 1985 in the original post.

It did not take 8 hours after the other people were removed from the house--it was minutes not hours.

I'm sorry, but you are trying to paint this as nasty--stupid--add your own---try finding something positive---anywhere and lift up the heroes rather than tearing them apart.

Speaking of heroes---the police safely removed the children in a day care center very close to this house.

As for the police bombing incident---that was ordered by the then Mayor---who was about as fit to be mayor as trump is fit to live in the White House.

I would have to see the timeline between the police officers w/ prisoners escaping the area and the teargas solution. I counted hours in between in the accounts coming out. My complaint was the deference shown to a perp shooting up the police and neighborhood. Had I been in command, the “take him out order” would have been issued in about 10 minutes. Leaving a guy firing off magazines full of high velocity bullets from his window because he is black is stupidity...and make no mistake, that is why the situation was allowed to linger.

When you shoot up the neighborhood, you forfeit the right to keep doing it.

Well, it seems they had evacuated those in immediate danger of harm. If that is the case, what is the rush to take him down? He is no longer a threat to anyone other than the police who are trying to arrest him. Why should the police take unnecessary risks when all they need to do is wait him out? I don't mean they should wait forever. They should turn off the power and water to the building. Set up the loud speakers and play him some nice music for awhile. Deprive him of sleep. Do all the mind game tricks to force him to come out on his own accord because he just can't stand it any longer. I've seen it work fairly quickly. They will either kill themselves, or surrender.

The time between the hostages getting out and the creep coming out was about 2 hours.

NPR says it was over in an hour. CNN says eight hours?
