870's are quite effective, I have one myself, but not too good for concealment. When I was working patrol back in the late 1980's, it served me well, no concealment required. These days, I like the surprise factor of a concealed weapon. My go to weapon is my Glock 23 .40 pistol. It also served me well during most of my career. I started out in 1981 with a S&W model 19 in .357 magnum. Went from it to a Colt 1911 Combat Commander. And finally to the Glock 23. Today, for quick trips to get groceries, I usually just stick a Ruger LCP in my pocket. Anything longer and I am accompanied by the Glock and the LCP.

Just funnin' you guys. This thread makes me chuckle when I think about a bunch of old guys fumbling with their James Bond umbrella swords. Somebody is going to poke their eye out.

My cane sword is hefty and well-built, meant to be used as a defensive weapon, even before it's unsheathed. When I don't carry it in Las Vegas, I keep it near my front door in a fall-back position.
