I wonder if the resemblance to a Flexible Flyer sled was intentional?

I think it might be a carryover from the early "buckboard" horse drawn wagon. They were simple, cheap, and functional. They were built without a rigid frame. The intent was that the boards would flex as it went over bumps--thus improving the ride.

Back to the Baker. My father drove an electric bread truck in Philadelphia for a period between the end of any union carpenters working after the depression hit and when my parents scratched together enough money, in the mid 30's, to buy the farm where I was born. My mother continued to work throughout the depression as a school teacher.
Anyway---I think I recall my father saying that was a Baker. One of the things I remember him talking about was the "danger" of being forced onto the trolley tracks when they were wet. The truck had solid rubber tires and zero tread which resulted in an occasional thrill, since the track of the truck matched the track of the trolleys.
There was an electric forklift company named Baker which could have been a successor. They went out of business in the late 70's, although the name still exists. I once had a 4 way travel Baker----I wasn't a proud owner!

Ya--the irony of the names did occur to me as well.
Below is an ad for their trucks. A quick search leads me to believe they stopped car manufacturing in 1917 and a few years after that the trucks were gone.
