From 40 yards, Alternated shooting field points and broadheads. The broadheads blew though the target and buried themselves in the first of two layers of hay bales lining the fence.

What kind of equipment? What are you after with broadheads? I know pigs are very popular in those parts.
I shoot G5's but I don't like practicing with them. Dangerous. I know a couple of very experienced guys who have been hurt pretty bad when something went wrong.

Cool. I've stuck some javis, but never been pig hunting.
I did the math. I bought my first bow (a Browning) 42 years ago. Arrowed my first bull elk 37 years ago. I used to shoot zwickey broadheads (recognizable in Deliverance) that you sharpened with a steel. Gettin old.

Old guy jokes aside, shooting sports generally have become harder for me because of the bifocal thing. Its hard to focus on the sights and target without moving my head around. Pistols are becoming more fun.
I'm sitting down to prime 100 pieces of brass. Nows a good time to catch up on some reloading.

I guess you don't SEE the humor
You learn to draw a bow. I'm not a gym rat and I pull 70#. I sure feel it the first few days when I start shooting again. It is funny to watch a "big ol boy" who has never pulled a bow try it for the first time though.
With these new bows you don't need to draw a bunch, and the modern let-offs of 70% are a vast improvement over the stone age. I draw a heavy bow because I shoot a heavy arrow (300's) because an elk is a big critter.
I would love to shoot my bow right now, but it feels like Wyoming here. Brrr...

I have older eyes, too. On top of that I had my lenses replaced several years ago which got rid of the trifocals and gave me great near and far vision but not so good 24" or so away. So my sights are a little blurry.Originally Posted by CactusCurt
I put a red dot sight on the new .22 and really like it now that I learned how to use it. All you have to do is focus on the target and the red dot will be there. Don't even try to focus on the red dot like you do with iron sights or a scope. Just focus on the target. It works great for me.

I have conceded to my age, I now shoot a crossbow with a lighted dot scope on it
For open sights I have gone to fiber optic dots on my slug gun, the rear sight has two dots, the front is one which you line up in the middle---it works for me. I no longer had a chance with conventional iron sights.
I should add that I have one 22 with a peep site and that is still perfectly usable with my old eyes.
