Due to a death in the family, Wifey and I have about a thousand rounds of 9mm ammo. Most of it is 20 to 30 years old. Is there an expiration or "unsafe" date? The ammo is from a major U.S. company and is clean and in the original boxes.

Shot some WWII .30-06 last fall. Substantially older 20-30 years.

Older ammo (older than any of us) with corrosive potassium chlorate based primers as used by most militaries up until it began to be phased out in the 1930's, has a shelf life of forever as long as the cases are intact...Modern non-corrosive ammo will still outlast any of us plus at least the next generation...Just store it in a cool dry place until ready for use......Ben

I have 30-year-old 762 that I put up against anything. Russian made with non-corrosive primers.
